iPhone Tweaks: Spruce up your Power Options with PowerUp

PowerUp is a free jailbreak app that is available on the Cydia Market and can give you more options to the iPhone’s sleep button. In normal cases when you press and hold the sleep button of your iPhone you will be greeted with a ‘Slide to Power off slider’. But once you download and install PowerUp then you will be able to widen the range of functions you can perform. This tweak will add additional options on your iPhone when you press and hold the sleep button by adding a power off menu.

You get several options which include the normal power off as well as the new options for reboot and respring. Thus, there are two more additional options which you get with PowerUp. The respring option included with PowerUp is certainly very useful. Jailbreak iPhone users often have to respring their iPhone. In fact, Apple should include this option to respring since it’s not only jailbroken iPhone users but also standard iPhone users who would reap the benefits. In PowerUp you also have options for customizing the looks of the tweak. You get two different presentation styles for the dialog boxes and three different themes for the action style sheet. This is a really nice feature included by the developer in PowerUp. The only problem with PowerUp is that it doesn’t bring anything new. The options for reboot and respring are already found in another jailbreak tweak called as SBSettings. I am sure lots of you have heard about SBSettings. Apart from these two options SBSettings also adds an additional option for putting your jailbroken iPhone into safe mode. Now, you might be wondering why you would want to install PowerUp if it doesn’t bring anything new to the table. The simplest reason is that if you re looking for something which adds a bit more functionality to your iPhone’s sleep button then you can’t go wrong with PowerUp. Plus, PowerUp is free in the Cydia store while SBSettings costs $0.99. So if you haven’t already bought SBSettings and are looking for such as tweak then you can download PowerUp from Cydia on your jailbroken iPhone for free.
