iPhone and iPhone nano (image from engadget) - Image 1Picture an iPhone half the size of the ones currently out on the market. Imagine that it's cheaper too, just perfect for all those people who have yet to get into the Apple craze because the iPhone is just too damn expensive for them.

That's the iPhone nano, an iPhone revision that's been rumored for a couple of years now. The iPhone nano has recently resurfaced from the rumor mill late last year thanks to some silicone case mockups, and now even Chinese trade papers are getting in on the action.

According to the Economic Daily News (as reported by DigiTimes), Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) and United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) are likely to land chip orders for the low-cost iPhone nano, with the chip orders expected to come by March and the iPhone nano itself is predicted to launch this June at the earliest.

I certainly wouldn't say no to an entry-level iPhone (I still use the same phone I bought four years ago), but hey, this is still being tagged as a rumor, so don't get your hopes up too high just yet. Keep checking back here for more updates.

Why would you want a smaller iPhone? One half the size? The on screen keyboard would be a b**** to type on. How can one get any cheaper than $199? The data for it would probably still be around $30 a month.
