What Happened To Android Market? |

I think there are times when I'm glad I'm an Android user. It may be a young OS at the moment, but I think there's a lot of prospect with Google at the helm, even when they rebrand their entire OS market to align with their name.
Yep, Android Market has now been rebranded Google Play at this year's GDC. It only came a few hours after I read a news article about Google saying the key to their social network was the games. I think that when looking at the model of Facebook, as well as the multi-million dollar revenue, yes, games help on Facebook, but having them on Google+ may be a bit different.
As of Tuesday, the app store, along with Google Music and their eBookstore, are all going to be under the big name of Google Play. This will help Google as a brand and a way of tearing down the invisible walls of content delivery. So now you can search and choose from whatever you want in Google's content, whenever you want.
Google also showed off a new Cloud-based service where all your content can be shared, kept and then can continue where you left off where you were. So say you started reading The Secret Agent on the train on your phone, but wanted to finish it on your tablet when you got home, you could totes do that without flicking and scrolling through pages.
There will also be Google Play Movies that can be streamed directly to your phone or downloaded with very little DRM. To mark the occasion and name shift, Google is offering a series of films, books, music and apps at discounted prices, like World of Goo for 50 cents on the Google App store...which I have to say is beyond worth it. That game is addictive as hell...
So do you think the brand was a good move? Tell us in the comments or on the forums

Fools! Remember when they downloaded their bloated Maps update onto private phones without consent? Wasn't until we started threatening legal action on Market that they stopped. Guess tjey'll be putting an,end to honest comments too.
