Upcoming Real Racing 2 update brings 4-player split screen action on iOS devices

New Party Play feature takes AirPlay streaming to new heights.

The folks at Firemint continues to push the iOS hardware a bit further with the upcoming iOS 5 update to its jaw dropping racing sequel, Real Racing 2, by offering up to four-player split screen iOS gaming on an HDTV. Check out the video below.

How does it all work? "Party Play takes AirPlay to the next level of iOS gaming, facilitating wireless local multiplayer for up to 4 players simultaneously in a split screen display output to your HD TV using an iPad 2 or iPhone 4S as the host," notes Firement on their blog post announcement. This means that you'll need at least one device with an A5 processor, either an iPad 2 or the new iPhone 4S, to enjoy the nifty new feature. Other players can join in the fun using any device that runs the game.

Aside from the new feature, you can also expect some more "graphical enhancements that make use of the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S A5 processor." The update is slated to go live next week alongside the release of iOS 5 and iPhone 4S. Man, this new feature has lots of potential. Hopefully, other games will also implement it.
