Threat Level - Image 1Perhaps to cash in on a global pandemic fear of the Swine Flu, Apple is developing a new App called the Swine Flu Tracker, which is supposed to help you stay out of places where the disease may have hit, as well as give you reports on other useful info about the illness.

While it sounds like the app gets your iPhone beeping when you're near someone with Swine Flu, Swine Flu Tracker's three functions are more realistic than that. First, it will display the current threat level of the disease according to the WHO. Then it makes use of a Google map and drops pins on locations where there have been confirmed and suspected cases, so you'll know which places to stay away from. The third function retrieves Swine Flu from around the world, so you're kept in-the-know about the latest news on the illness.

It's still in development, so no further details than that are available. Swine Flu Tracker is expected to come to both the iPhone and iPod Touch on release. We'll just put it up once we've got word.
