Skylanders Ready to Take More of Your Money |
Listed in: News Tags: Activision, cloud patrol, modern warfare, skylanders, World of Warcraft
Activision is in the business of making money, and for the last few years, business has been very, very good. Riding high on enormous franchises like Modern Warfare and World of Warcraft, Activision has made itself one of if not the biggest game publisher in the world. So it’s no surprise that the company’s Skylanders IP is such a smashing success—Activision knows how to monetize.

If you’re just not getting enough Skylanders at home, or feel like you’d like to spend more money on the franchise outside of buying endless toys, try picking up the new iOS game, Skylanders Cloud Patrol. The game will run you 99 cents, but you will naturally have plenty of opportunities to pump more cash in for in-game items and bonuses.
Here’s one cool thing though—if you have the serial number for the toys you’ve purchased, you can enter them in the iOS version of the game to access those characters. At least you won’t have to buy them twice!
This is Activision’s first big step into the world of freemium, so it will be interesting to see where it goes. What do you think will happen—are people ready to spend real money for digital Skylanders goods?

There's a major flaw with the PC game and the shitty part is I discovered that while the PC version stops being able to read the toys, the web version could read them just fine. Clearly the PC code is broken. I attempted to give my findings to the support team but since they're nothing but a bunch of idiots in a third world country...they didn't give a damn one bit.
I filed a complaint with the company they'll "look into it".
I wont hold my breath.

I swear those Activision devs have no brains in their heads. It could have been as simple as scanning the cards. Ah well.
