Offender Locator - Image 1Sometimes, you'll never know what kind of people you're living next to. Deep inside their seemingly friendly exteriors may lie a criminal lawsuit waiting to happen. For that, you can keep your loved ones safe from those awful sex offenders with this new iPhone App, the Offender Locator.

This handy new app uses GPS and a record of registered sex offenders to let you know where you and your loved ones should not be going near. The app can also use addresses from your contacts and can find out which of your friends have these nasty pervs living nearby. While the app has its limits when detecting the offenders, it's better than not having anything at all.

The Offender Locator is now available in the App Store for only US$ 0.99, which is a small price to pay if you're getting restless over potential pervs-next-door.

i tried this and others, and found it was missing some offenders close by. there is another program called StaySafe, which seems to yield more results. both are good programs but they need to remain current.

Even so, if they have an iPhone then they should have a data plan on the phone so they can just view a site through safari. I'm sorry but its a bit paranoid to need an app on your phone to constantly check see if a new offender has moved in. Staying informed is one thing, but this is just cashing in on fear.

It's not cashing in on fear. One nice feature is that it tell who where they are in relation to you. Let's say your kids want to spend the night at a friends house. while you are in the driveway dropping them off you can launch the app and see what sort of place you are leaving your kids. It just makes it faster so you don't have to type in an address.

Last year I lost my home to an arsonist who targeted me because I'm a registered former sex offender. He was caught, convicted, but given probation. He didn't have to register as an arsonist.

Later last year, while staying overnight at a friends house, he'd managed to locate me and set my friend's house on fire while I was away. Also in the home was a 90 year old woman.

This year I've been living in a tent on property miles from town. The reason? To hide. Why hide? To keep from losing my life.

I haven't found work or safe housing for almost a year now. The arsonist also destroyed my car by driving it off a cliff after stealing it while I was at work.

Unfortunately, I have to register as a sex offender. The community feels safer now that they know my name and address. My crime was 10 years ago and I was 16 when I was with a girl 2 years younger than me. We fooled around. That was the only crime I ever committed except for traffic tickets.

My next crime will NOT be a sex crime. It's most likely going to be murder in defense.

Also, I want to let everyone know that when you use these applications, you are in fact stalking. It doesn't matter what you feel about it... it matters because I perceive it that way. Perception, like in a sexual harrasement case, it all about how the victim percieves the situation. You lose. I win.

Also, I just won my case against the State of California. I've been awarded more money than you'll ever make in your entire lifetimes.

Depriving a person of a second chance is in fact depriving them of hope. When a person gives up, they turn out to be the guy who kills people in a Gym. Who's more dangerous?

Guess who picks up the tab for compensating me for depriving me of my basic human rights? The tax payer.
