Well it's the story everyone is talking about today across the net. Prince has decided the internet is over and is now putting out his latest album via a freebie giveaway on the front of a UK paper.
Everyone seems to be discussing how dumb Prince is for making such an outlandish statement, but seeing as this comment has got him to the front of every blog and news site globally in just 24 hours... really... is he that dumb? Oh and the newspaper is running a week long campaign on their site running up to the album launch to promote the album... so really... Prince knows exactly what he's doing.
How else would he get the whole world to know about his new album when he doesn't have a fixed record label, and no easy way to globally promote. What he has done is internet marketing genius, and it's worked. Everyone is talking about Prince and his new album. I bet he is sitting at home laughing to himself thinking.... "hmmm... I must remember to be controversial and insult some more nerds for the next album too..."
Sadly iPhone users won't easily be able to get Prince's latest offering seeing as he's banned it from iTunes and online sale outlets. So die hard fans will have to get the CD and then rip the music in to iTunes for iPod playback.
Prince's album comes out on Saturday. But you probably already know that... thanks to this dying thing called 'the internet'.
Ironically... all the Prince music you actually like, his old hits, are already on iTunes.
