New iPhone 3GS units can't be jailbroken |
Ó
This was bound to happen sooner or later. The new iPhone 3GS units have been armed by Apple with security so tight, a jailbreak can't break in.
The iBoot-359.3.2 shipped out last week, and following its arrival came confirmations from the devs that the new Bootrom, which makes the iPhone impenetrable by the 24kpwn, makes it impossible to successfully proceed with a jailbreak. At least "for the time being," iPhone Dev-Team's MuscleNerd said.
Here's Mathieulh's screenshot of the new version number:

I knew this was going to happen.. soon as i read about geohot and the 30 sec JB that uses the expoilt thats been open and used for quite sometime.. cause of this exploit been used in blacra1n apple saw the opening and of course blocked it out!
this was a big givin! but i support the dev team and even geohot that they should find something soon or later
but i dont see why ppl like the iphone as much as they do. Why not just 'break' your iphone and get an
ANDROID!
Because you're a fanboy.
its just a rumour...

Wow it is a really pleasant surprise to see Math's name up here again. Hope all is well Math! The scene is still fond of you and your team which you can always see here and are clamoring for a comeback. Stay up man.
As for the 3GS, give it time. With AT&T losing Apple exclusivity it was expected that Apple would patch any holes before having multple carriers and users jailbreaking and rummaging through the apps store. This legitimizes the iPhone for the time being, but as with all impregnible devices like the Wii, PSP and PS3, secuity holes are bound to surface.
it's just about time, there is no perfect code.
While I agree with your statement about the iPhone being so popular, and android having a lot of potential, but when you jailbreak your iPhone it gives the phone its full potential, its just like the PSP with is CFW.
yeah, well it's my personal believe AT&T is an evil corpration.... oh hell everyone else is guilty of the same crap too!
Does this apply to every 3GS every produced or is this the latest ones rolling off the factory line?
Did you read the article? It says in it that the ones that came off the line this last week are the only ones like that. Heck, even of you only read the headline it says "New" iPhone 3GS. Meaning the newest in the 3GS series.
Before you decide to post anything..
CLEARLY apple saw that a bunch of crackers decrypted their system less then a week ago and decided that this was the perfect time to patch a hole
so they got on the phone with the plant that makes iphones and had them change it all and make hundreds of thousands of them and ship them all off
a bootrom isnt that easy for them to just modify and put on a chip and go, there needs to be debug and various bug testing..
in laymans terms.. this has been in the works for a while, if you remember correctly the 24kpwn was used to crack ipod touch 2G, so its not like that this was some brand new revelation..
Well, you guys should have expected this, you idiot pirates think your evil ways will survive forever? Well guess what? They wont. It's a real shame Apple has to step in because theres so many app makers loosing money because of you idiot pirates. I don't think Apple cares about the 3rd party apps, they never had before, its the damn piracy. And worst of all, the apps are what? 99 cents? Are you guys seriously that evil that your going to pirate 99 cent apps? Give me a break. Apple did what Sony never wanted to do, they let it go for awhile, let hacking flourish and didn't do a thing about it. And this is the reason they have to stop it, because theres too gosh damn many cheap morons in this world that cant pay a buck for an app that probably took developers days, maybe months, to write. It's a real shame.
I read the article and it states that iBoot-359.3.2 came out last week which clearly sounds like software to me. Software that can be installed on any 3GS when it is updated via any new iPhone OS update. The iPhone 3GS is a fairly new product and it says nowhere that "iPhones that rolled out last week have a hardware update that makes them impossible to jailbreak."
So my question still remains relevant.
Anyone?
