Bioware's upcoming Mass Effect 3 is looking to be one of the most anticipated titles of 2012. The game's stellar cast and storyline will only catapult the title into a whole new area and I can hear the rave reviews calling from upon the mountain tops. However, what a lot of Mass Effect fans didn't expect was the upcoming handheld release which will be more of a tie in to Galaxy at War, the co-op experience, than ME3 itself.

With the game less than two months away Bioware has yet to comment properly on the mobile product other than "there will be a 'handheld/mobile' product tied to Mass Effect 3." But there's more to it than that with a confirmation that they will be part of the co-op game and that it will focus mainly on Galaxy at War more than any other part of the series.

This isn't just EA trying to cash-in on the Mass Effect galaxy.  Remember Mass Effect: Galaxy when Mass Effect 2 came out? Sure you do.  It was about Jacob and Miranda and it helped integrate some player driven stuff between games and altered the dialogue slightly...oh well. The point is the handheld is in (kinda) safe hands and that as long as they're not charging for the experience and make it essential to get plot details for ME3 from the app then we should be just fine.
