Screenshot of iTunes 8 preventing PwnageTool exploit - Image 1It seems like Apple has become extra vigilant against the jailbreaking efforts of homebrew developers as of late. The most recent release of iTunes (version 8) has reportedly been able to effectively detect and prevent PwnageTool from using its exploit on the iPhone or iPod touch.

The iphone-dev team, however, assured everyone that they are already working on countermeasures to once again "pwn" your Apple gadgets. As of this article's writing, one such patch has already been developed (although not yet released), specifically for iTunes 8. A suite of patches will soon be released to once again jailbreak iPhones and iPod touch devices complete.

The homebrew team mentioned that they will be working on patch over the next week, although there was no mention when exactly it will be released. However, knowing their reputation, it should be released very soon so just keep you eyes out for it. We'll be doing the same and will update everyone as soon as it comes out.
