iPhone 5 Kills Predecessors with its Preorder Sales |
Listed in: News Tags: apple, iphone 5, preorder, release date
Whether you hate Apple or love them, one thing is for certain – they move products off the shelves. Apple fandom seems to be at an all-time high, and nowhere is that more obvious than with the recently unveiled iPhone 5.

To get an idea of how the iPhone line has skyrocketed in terms of popularity, let’s look at the preorders of the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. The iPhone 4 sold out of its preorder launch inventory in just 20 hours. The iPhone 4S was nearly as impressive by selling out its preorder units in 22 hours. So, what about the iPhone 5? Reports have circulated that it sold out approximately one hour after its preorders went live. Yes, in a measly 60 minutes, all those iPhone preorders got snatched up, making it 20 times more successful in terms of preorder sales than its two most recent predecessors.
The iPhone 5 preorder rush has caused Apple to push back shipping times between one and two weeks, which surely will piss off many of their anxious fans. It also caused some problems on Apple’s own site and some carrier sites. This type of rush is nothing new, so you have to wonder how they got overwhelmed.

The fact that Apple could be stocking stores more than the internet can't possibly be an option.
Hey Best Buy, how many iPhone5's do you have? About 12 minutes worth.
Lame.

The iPhone5 did NOT sell out 1 hour after orders started. That news was FALSE. The 2 week ship date given to customers was incorrect. If you preordered on the first day, then you'll get it on launch day.

So yeah, that's 2 times as much, not 20 times as much.
Next time don't use a clock to judge your inventory. Instead, get the facts!
