iOS Apps Can Run On Apple TV at 720p

If you have an Apple TV then you’ll be happy to know you can indeed run iOS apps on it, at 720p and quite smoothly too.

This video demonstration explains it all in more detail, showing apps like Facebook and Youtube on there.

The project is called the Apple TV MobileX, and you should probably look into it as it looks like a world of potential. A video was shown demonstrating an Apple TV running the apps, but was of low quality and had little explanations. The apps run smoothly, with the exception of some slowdowns when running Safari, due to the fact that in the demonstration the Apple TV is being controlled via a VNC setup.

If this proves to go well, then I might pick up an Apple TV. Until then, I’ll keep tuned.

There's lots of reasons.

1. You can rent TV shows and movies.
2. You can play your entire collection of music and videos on your TV.
3. Now you can run iOS apps.

I have the 2nd generation ATV and it sucked balls because it kept locking up on me. So I got rid of it. But this new one is much smaller, better software and it would be a kick butt media center for your living room. That is if you don't already have one.

At any rate, it's the same exact appeal for all the media center functions on the PS3 and 360. Same thing, only Apple.
