In the past, I had written about a prototype laser keyboard made by some talented students, but what if I told you that as of right now there is already a fully functional option out there available to use on your smartphone or tablet? Thanks to the folks over at Brookstone, you can type your way into the future with this little add on that works with most devices.

As a company, most of us already know that Brookstone has dominated by making some really cutting edge and interesting products. Sure they do tend to put a lot of emphasis on comfort items, but sometimes where electronics are concerned they have a tendency to surprise you. Take a look at this fully working laser keyboard. All you need to do is attach this little square by USB or pair it by blue-tooth to your phone and shazam you have a keyboard that displays on any large flat surface. Just type as you would on any other input device and your keystrokes will be emulated on whatever it is you have connected.

What are the drawbacks to a system like this? Reports tell me there are only a few. For one, obviously something like this may come a little expensive to some at an asking price of $100, but that's somewhat expected from the brand. In addition to this, stock has been running low due to high demand, so if you want one you're going to have to be vigilant.
