Square Enix has released the prequel to Chaos Rings, titled Chaos Rings Omega, on iDevices.
"CHAOS RINGS OMEGA is the highly anticipated prequel to the critically acclaimed CHAOS RINGS, which was a best-selling app in 15 countries and was also chosen as a recipient of Apple Inc.'s "iTunes Rewind 2010" award. The prequel features evolved gameplay and a storyline that will allow players to experience an unforgettable RPG experience on the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad."
Omega is set 10,000 years before the events of the first game, and players follow the story of Vieg, who has been summoned by the Ark Arena to fight to the death.
Featuring a turn-based battle system, players are given the choice between "solo" moves, where they can enter commands separately, or "pair" moves, to execute actions as a team. Working as a pair allows the characters to concentrate their efforts for more effective power. Defeating enemy monsters allows players to obtain specific DNA information called "genes," which players can equip to learn the monster's magic and special attack moves.
