Apple sued over iPhone's access to iTunes and App Store, iPhone camera chips |
Ó
Apple got served with two separate lawsuits this week by a couple of companies that claim patent infringement on the iPhone the App Store, and even the chips that power the iPhone's camera. One of the lawsuits came from Affinity Labs. According to AppleInsider, Affinity Labs' lawsuit claims that both the iPhone and iPod Touch infringe on three patents for sending information wirelessly to a portable device.
That's not all. Affinity Labs also claims that making music available through iTunes and software through the App Store also unfairly copy its own browsing, downloading and transferring techniques.
The second lawsuit was filed by Accolade Systems. This one actually targets Aptina Imaging and Micron for violating a patent for detecting a camera's sensor intensity saturation by producing three CMOS image sensors.
Accolade hopes to find Apple guilty by association for using at least one of these sensors in the iPhone. In fact, AppleInsider says that Apple wasn't even included as a defendant in Accolade's original lawsuit.
