iPhone App Store - Image 1In 12 months alone, Apple's App Store has already hit 1.5 billion downloads for applications, the tech company proudly announced today via press release. With 65,000 apps available all over the world, and millions of iPod and iPhone users, this really comes as no surprise. Still, that number is amazing.

Said Steve Jobs, CEO for Apple, "The App Store is like nothing the industry has ever seen before in both scale and quality. With 1.5 billion apps downloaded, it is going to be very hard for others to catch up."

Last month, the latest iPhone model, the 3GS, was launched. Three days later, it hit the one million mark for number of units sold.

Yep, there sure is nothing like the App Store out there. There's nothing like Apple out there, dare I say. I don't think Steve Jobs would have to worry about competition for a very long time.
