Angry Birds Malware Bombing Android Systems |

Angry Birds: Space has been a massive hit for Rovio, with millions of downloads registered just days after the game’s launch. But where there is a successful product there is an opportunity for crooks and thieves, and Angry Birds: Space doesn’t seem to be exempt from the types of cyber-attacks that have grown all too common these days.

It appears that certain versions of Rovio’s space-themed title for Android are infused with malware that cracks the root of your Android device and starts downloading and installing more malware (your basic pump and dump). This, in turn, could compromise your personal data—or at the very least, compromise the stability of your Android OS.
The fake versions of the game actually work—the analyst at SophosLabs that picked up the hack noted that the Trojan is packed into a fully functioning version of Angry Birds: Space. If you didn’t buy your copy of the game through Google Play or another big outlet like Amazon, you could have the sketchy version and not even know it.
Sophos has provided instructions for detecting and removing the threat, so if you picked up Angry Birds: Space from a less-than-reputable source you may want to give it a look.

Droid apps have malware all the time.

I have been throwing caution to the wind with my Droid ever since I got my Galaxy Tab. Downloading whatever apps I never wanted to try, out of the fear it would destroy or cripple it.
I have yet to get any malware, virus, or spyware of any kind.

From those stores, yes, ALL THE TIME. Because anyone and their monkey ancestors can upload to it and they can upload whatever they want.
