A closer look at iPhone 3.0 |

We were lucky enough to get iPhone 3.0 today in beta, and we're very impressed, it's a very stable version, and with the exception of MMS and Internet Tethering not working properly, everything else is almost ready for release. We've had a quick glance over the whole OS, and this is what we found...
Spotlight
This is fast, like REALLY fast. We're talking Mac fast. Suddenly finding anything on your iPhone will be a dream. You can also set your iPhone to access spotlight with a double tap on the Home button which is nice too.

Sending Contacts
AT LAST, when someone says 'send me their number please', you actually can. The iPhone sends industry standard VCards in MMS or Email format, both work perfectly.
Voice Memos
Voice Memos are nice, and also allow you to trim the audio before saving or sending via email as m4a files. No sign of syncing with your desktop yet though...

Landscape Keyboard
The landscape keyboard REALLY WEIRD to use, just purely because we've all got used to the squashed keyboard that is in portrait mode, however after a day or so, this really is the easiest way to type, you'll never go back to the old style keyboard.

Repeat Alert
AT LAST! no more annoying double SMS alert if you fail to notice the first one. The repeat alert is now an option and I'm pretty certain all iPhone users will turn it off straight away!
Can iPhone 3.0 be jailbroken? Yes it can, however don't forget, Apple say Jailbreaking is illegal and it will void your warrantee.
No fixed release date for iPhone 3.0 has been set yet, but we are expecting it around June/July time.
