Year Opens With Talk of iPhone 5S and iOS 7 |

If you've been a watcher of Apple products at all, then you know they are a company that is almost always thinking ahead to the next big thing. Still with the recent release of the iPhone 5 and iPad 4, you would think they might be done for a while. According to reports from some unnamed developers, they have seen some pretty suspicious activity in their developer logs including mentions of a new operating system and even a brand new device!
For those familiar with the development scene at all, you may have heard of what are called usage logs. Essentially what happens is a developer will send their work out for testing at Apple, or a third party and it will come back with a list of all the devices that have been used to run their software along with any errors that may have happened during operation. Usually during the hardware cycle, you see a lot of the same type of system like "iPhone 5,1 on iOS 6" so you can bet that it was a shock to see a newly labeled iPhone 6,1 on iOS 7 show up in their system.

Certainly as many of us scene followers know, there are always easy ways to spoof these kinds of basic identifiers but many believe this not to be the case. After tracing the unit's IP address, it was found to be located at the Apple headquarters. Again this is another thing that could be faked, but would anybody really go through all that trouble? Considering many report that the next iPhone could be on the market as soon as June, it's very probable there are some testing kits out there. This in fact could have been one of them.
As far as iOS goes, what we can say is that 7 marks the first major project from Jony Ive, so it will be interesting to see what his development process churns out. In the end this is just one more piece of evidence that the future is nigh at Apple.
