Barcode - Image 1

Here's a cool little app that adds another level of functionality to the Apple iPhone. This one's called ZXing - that's pronounced "Zebra Crossing", by the way - and it lets you turn your iPhone into a handy barcode reader.

ZXing uses the iPhone's built-in camera to decode both 1D and 2D barcodes. It doesn't need to communicate with a server and generally takes about 1 to 2 seconds to process an image. As with any barcode reader, image quality plays a big role in decoding information, so focus issues and motion blur could cause some trouble when using this app.

This app supports the following formats:
  • UPC-A and UPC-E
  • EAN-8 and EAN-13
  • Code 39
  • Code 128
  • QR Code
You can find out more about ZXing at the Source link. You can also check out this app on the iTunes App Store.
