iPhone 3G Unlocked - Image 1The iPhone Dev-Team is ending the year with a bang! The team has unlocked the iPhone 3G and is now prepping it up for a user-friendly release on New Year's Eve.

Here are a few notes from the team you should know about if you're planning to unlock your iPhone 3G:
  • This unlock method is available to iPhone 3Gs that have 2.11.07 baseband or earlier, we did warn you.
  • You can tell what version baseband you have by going to Settings->General->About->Modem Firmware
  • The unlock requires a jailbroken 3G iPhone. ItÂ’ll be installable via Cydia and so it doesnÂ’t matter if you have a Mac or PC.
  • Please refrain from updating your baseband, regardless of what version youÂ’re at. WeÂ’ll have complete directions on New YearÂ’s Eve.
  • WeÂ’ll stream a live demo of the unlock before Christmas.
Got all that? Now if you want a live demo of the unlock, visit the source link below for details. Of course, we'll let you know when the software is released, so check back for updates.

» clear your thoughts

jailbroken means your iphone/3g is capable of installing softwares not signed by apple, or pirate software for appropriate wording.

unlocked phones means you can use any other sim card from any other compatible service provider be it prepaid or postpaid service.

you need both to free your iphone/3g from the choke of apple and the original service provider.
