MacBook Tablet? - Image 1Imagine a ten-inch touch screen that appears and functions like a large iPod Touch. Are you getting that picture clear in your head? Great, cos if analysts are proven right, then we just might see such an Apple Tablet Computer launching by before the end of the year.

Said unnamed analyst reportedly divulged to financial publication Barron that he himself saw the multimedia device firsthand, and that it will, in fact, even double as a game console. More competition in the market = more choices for consumers.

UK's Telegraph is reporting that the said hardware will be positioned as a home media hub, which will feature streaming content capabilities and services. Of course, Apple is keeping mum on this rumor, but company COO Tim Cook did affirm previously that they are indeed working on something "very innovative."

If this be true, expect this to be out in a couple of months, for around US$ 800 (GB £500). We'll keep you updated for more on this.

Hoho!

This pleases me, as Apple has finally gotten too big for its breeches.

This product will tank. Why? Portability.

They've gotten away with charging crazy prices for their stuff and accessories, but folks won't take kindly to an 800 dollar device that'd be outdone by a miniature notebook.

I'll be over in my anti-Apple corner. It's not very populated, but it's comfy.

I really want to see an Apple game console, but this is certainly NOT what I had in mind. The major drawback of the iPod touch as a game console is the lack of buttons, so a tablet would suck. And there's already an Apple approved tablet called the ModBook being made out of MacBooks, so it's essentially useless. Please Apple, make a home game console, its the only thing left you need to do. You already make great computers, phones, media devices (both home and portable), screens, now you just need to get into the home video game industry.

I know all about the Pippin but that wasn't an Apple console, they licensed it to other manufacturers, and that was before Steve Jobs got back. Everything Apple did sucked when Steve wasn't there. They could make a much better console today.

Until they release the specs. I'm constantly saying they need an affordable entry into the netbook market. The Macbook Air would SLAY the netbook market if they would only charge like $500-600 for them. That being said, they're not going to do that with the Air.

The dual/quad core Arm processors that were rumored to be in next years iPhone, could have actually been purchased for this device and not for the iPhone at all.

I'll wait for the product to actually be announced before I make any final judgment.

Apples going to suck in money on this one. then release a new one withing 200 days. it will not tank, if you look at the current market, people are moving to apple for userfriendly-ness, and touchscreens.

i myself just bought a macbook pro. then immediately returned it, junk, audio crappy (typical for macbooks, dont buy one)
