Pro: Jailbreaks Can Keep Your Old iDevice Feeling Fresh
One of the biggest problems with sticking on the Apple train is that the hardware you own will only be supported for a certain amount of time before you are unable to upgrade and add new features to the OS. In general, the company has done a pretty solid job this time around in that iOS 6 does indeed run on phones as old as the 3GS, but come iOS 7 you will probably see both the 4G iPod Touch and 3GS fall into the bin of obscurity. You'll still be able to get app updates for a little while longer, but once those are done you will pretty much be stuck with the configuration you have unless you spring to buy something new.

That is, unless you decide to jailbreak. Once you start getting involved in hacks, you'll find that a lot of the very latest tweaks will still work even if you are running an older version of iOS. That means that even when all of the Apple branded software stops pouring in, you'll still have a whole world of other content to explore for a much longer span of time. While your friends are all mad about having to purchase new stuff, you can still be content in knowing that in a lot of cases a good hack will have your back to fill in feature gaps. With the freedom to make so many changes to your OS, it will probably be the hardware specs rather than a corporation that will tell you when it's time to upgrade.
All of this sounds great, but is hacking difficult for someone who may not be so technologically inclined? All noobs should read my words that are just a single click away.

I have two iPhone5's, an iPad2 and an iPad mini that I jailbroke. They all worked flawlessly.
Just gotta make sure you remove that pin code if you have your device locked. That causes all sorts of JB problems!
I guess I should take that back though... jailbreak.me was even easier and more pain free.

this is not to say idevices suck, Apple does have a better app market then android, but prefer a phone thats more personalized. Even with heavy modding, idevices will look almost the same with few changes to icons to make em look snazzy, the interface itself remains unchanged thus almost no personalization .
iDevice for gaming on the go.
Android for Everyday use and personalization .
