iPhone Hacks: Prevent your photos from getting deleted with PhotoProtect

iTunes will only backup those photos which you have synced from your computer to your iPhone. So what about the camera roll? This is where jailbreaking your iPhone comes to good use. You have access to so many tweaks on Cydia that you will always find a solution to any problem. If you have regularly been reading iPhoneuseguide.com then you might be aware of the Cydia Tweak mentioned earlier known as Photector. Lets us now introduce you to a new hack which is similar to Photector but with a twist. I am talking about PhotoProtect. The twist is that instead of traditional lockscreen pad which appears if potential deleters access your iPhone, they will now be greeted with a pop-up message. You can customize what the message will be displayed and as well as the button needed to be pressed to continue. You can get this tweak by simply opening up Cydia on your jailbroken iPhone and searching for PhotoProtect by typing it in. The settings for this hack will then appear in the Setting.app on your iPhone (like most Cydia tweaks). In the settings you can type in the customized message which is displayed when someone tries to delete a photo as well as toggle between switching on and off this hack. One point to note it that even though by default PhotoProtect is switched on you must toggle it off/on before it will start working. For some strange reason PhotoProtect doesn't catch the Photo.app API calls automatically. But as mentioned above, this problem can be easily rectified. Obviously, as with the flaw in Photector, PhotoProtect can be switched off by the ‘photo delete culprit’ if he/she is aware that it is installed. But even then, this is a useful tweak to make sure your photos are safe when you give your iPhone to your friends or even young children.
