Mojang unsure about Minecraft: Pocket Edition future |

Minecraft has gone from the little indie that could to one of the most influential and greatest games of all time. And if you didn't know already, you can play it on your phone. However, Minecraft: Pocket Edition has done quite well for itself, staying in the top 20 of both the Android and Apple marketplaces for several months. When asked about when the game will get out of it's beta stage (currently 0.1.2) and into a full release Mojang business developer Daniel Kaplan simply said:
"Oh Wow, I really don't know. I can't answer that."
While I think it was Kaplan being just genuinely humble about the situation people have taken to it as a weakness. I'd rather a dev be honest about a situation than simply start spouting off times and dates which may or may not seem incredulous to investor or gamer alike.
"One of the reasons we are [releaseing on multiple platforms] is because a lot of players are asking for the game on different platforms. But also to update the game in a way that fits the audience," Kaplan said in an interview with Gamasutra. The Android and iOs versions of the game haven't had any really big content updates so far. Kaplan, however, has outlined some key plans for their Pocket Edition. A big one being in survival mode with the addition of a new file system, touch-device customised item crafting, which would allow the player to have key-touches to make specific items in a hurry.
Kaplan has said that all "will be revealed as we move forward" but did note that the Pocket Edition will stay the same until there are proper developments and movement from the fanbase and developers. Kaplan says that they "listen a lot to the community but in the end it is [their, Mojang's] call.
