Square Enix iPhone Game Crystal Defenders Detailed - Image 1

Looks like Square Enix is jumping on the iPhone bandwagon. The studio will be releasing a new Final Fantasy game called Crystal Defenders on the platform. No, it's not another part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis series - that set has enough as it is. Of course, the game will be taking advantage of the touch screen.

Judging from the screens, it looks like it's going to be a Tactics-like game, probably similar to Revenant Wings. with the classes and races in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. And look, a row full of Tonberries! I'm guess that last screen below is a summon? It's Odin, by the looks of his funky helmet.

The game has only been announced for Japan, but hopefully other regions will see a release. It should.

Looks interesting to say the least but i doubt it'll have much depth to the game(being in iPhone)

Then again, the iPhone is said to be more powerful than the PSP/DS so I may be wrong.......

It says "wave" up in the top right of one of the pictures which makes me think that the game will be similar to on of those "build a defense and pray it kills everything that comes" games like pixel junk monsters or desktop defender.

how can it be a tactics game when theres a maze and a wave of enimies. It can only be a tower defense like game.

lol. This is definitely a tower defense game. Thanks, but no thanks. Imagine how much many they (Apple) paid just to get the name Final Fantasy (franchise) for a crappy tower defense. There are awesome tower defense games out there especially for the PC. Check those one out instead. ROFL @ Apple. Well, it's their money and time that's wasted so kudos! But then again if the price for this one is a cent then fine I guess. And no I'm not gonna pay a cent cause I'm cheap.

BTW, FFS (written on my short description isn't Final Fantasy Super) it's FOR *****S SAKE! and TD + Tower Defense. haha
