Capcom Prioritises MegaMan as a Key Brand |

MegaMan X is on it's way for the iPhone, which if you're a fan of the series, you could not be more ecstatic for...unless you already play an emulated version on your Nintendo DS...in which, case I say good on you. But it seems that while Nintendo may have the eye on the prize when it comes to their next console, Capcom is still going through some changes.
The newest release of MegaManX on iPhone will have GameCenter support for a ranking mode and over 50 challenges, similar to MegaMan 8 and 9 for consoles. The game will be released in the Japanese App store this month with the West to follow some time next year, hopefully. This is great news for MegaMan fans after MegaMan Legends 3 was cancelled recently.
Christian Svensson, Capcom's senior Vice President of business development, spoke with Game Informer this week about the fact that he needed to clarify Capcom's position with Mega Man despite his recent absence from Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and a few other usual properties.
Svensson said that while there has been constant change in the six years he had been there they wanted to be "crystal clear" on the point that "Mega Man is a key brand " and that he would remain so. He also said that there were "top men" working within Capcom thinking of the future of the brand with official announcements coming soon.
When asked about the recent cancelling of Legends 3, he said that it was an unfortunate decision and that he is aware of the fan relationship with Capcom and that he was sorry that some feel disenfranchised right now about their decision. Personally, I believe what Svensson has said about the ordeal but let's just say upfront now, when you say brand, when talking about video games, a few little red birds and Mario pop into my head.
I think Capcom really might be spreading their wings into more merchandising and really expressing the fan appreciation to a new limit with new plush toys, key rings etc., or they are gona make a whole new Mega Man game that will probably be in the vein of MegaMan X in the new year...time will, as always, tell.

If it's that much of a key brand, how about making the games you intend to on consoles, not iOS.

I dunno about everyone else, but I am SO SICK of 3d Megaman. Megaman in 3d always looked SUPER shit to me, it just looks so much more attractive and fun in sprite form.

Megaman Maverick Hunter X for psp
both download and disc and can't wait to play on my vita release day lol. Honestly that game is the Best made megaman game I've played and i've played more then i can remember. they fixed all Megaman X's issues changed up things to make slightly more sense and to change it abit for old players, normal and hard mode with Megaman and rival Vile.. yes first boss you fight and he's awesome. and on top of all that stuff and all the extras everyone knows about. there is a short Movie about 40 mins the most about the story so you know how everything started in megaman X, Called "The Day of Sigma",
they even remixed the music not once but twice, a metal version for vile and just a modern sounding version of the originals for megaman. and the redid everything in 3d and have full voice acting too!

Megaman Maverick Hunter X 2 & 3 for VITA (only vita so you know they are really putting in serious work towards the game)
I will then believe that the still care about megaman
