Apple has released the latest software update for the iPhone and iPod touch during its music-themed media event, "It's only rock and roll, but we like it". Notable features of OS 3.1 update includes Genius recommendations for apps, Genius mixes, syncing options, ringtones downloads, new apps management and more.

- Organize Apps in iTunes
- Improved syncing for music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, and photos1
- iTunes U content organization1
- Redeem iTunes Gift Cards, codes, and certificates in the App Store
- Display available iTunes account credits in the App Store and iTunes Store
- Save video from Mail and MMS into Camera Roll
- Option to “Save as new clip” when trimming a video on iPhone 3GS
- Better iPhone 3G Wi-Fi performance when Bluetooth is turned on
- Remotely lock iPhone with a passcode via MobileMe
- Use Voice Control on iPhone 3GS with Bluetooth headsets
- Paste phone numbers into the keypad
- Option to use Home button to turn on accessibility features on iPhone 3GS
- Warn when visiting fraudulent websites in Safari (anti-phishing)
- Improved Exchange calendar syncing and invitation handling
- Fixes issue that cause some app icons to display incorrectly
The OS 3.1 is now available for free for all iPhone users and iPod touch users with 3.0. For Pod touch users who have not yet upgraded to 3.0, it will cost you US$ 4.95 to download the update.

So it's $10 for 3.0 and $4.95 for 3.1? So... people who didn't upgrade to 3.0 can get 3.1 for half the price and get all the features of 3.0 plus the new crap in 3.1 xD

I really hope you aren't on iPod Touch firmware 3.0, or else you'd look sorta stupid, cause the 3.0 firmware for the iPod Touch came with the capability to enable bluetooth support. I promise you this,100%. Also, Skype can still be used on an iPod Touch WITHOUT a bluetooth headset. Just use the same kind of headset that came with the iPhone. The kind that has a microphone attached. You can buy any brand at your local store with an electronics section. Now if you have a 1st Gen Touch, I'm not sure if they even have bluetooth installed in them, but I know for a fact that the second gen does cause my friend was playing a game with his bluetooth on after I updated it to 3.0, it was some game that required a microphone.
