Apple has just released a brand new update for the iPhone that brings its OS up to 3.1.2. This update resolves a few of the bugs found in 3.1, including the one that keeps the iPhone from waking from sleep.

Here's what's included in the 240MB update:

This update contains bug fixes and improvements, including the following:

  • Resolves sporadic issue that may cause iPhone to not wake from sleep
  • Resolves intermittent issue that may interrupt cellular network services until restart
  • Fixes bug that could cause occasional crash during video streaming
A corresponding update is also available for the iPod Touch. iPhone owners in the US also get an update for AT&T's carrier settings file, which brings the settings to version 5.6.
