iPhone Tips & Tricks: Create a Useful Lock Screen

If you are not aware, ICE stands for In Case of Emergency. It is basically a program which was started in the mid-2000s to encourage people to list their ‘next of kin’ contacts as ICE. This would be useful in times of emergency and medical needs. Since you cannot display any text on your iPhone’s lock screen it is a good idea you make note of the tip I am about to tell you.

What you will need is the Notes application and the ability to take a screenshot on your iPhone. The first step involves creating the ICE lock screen image. To do this-

Open Notes on your iPhone.
Next, tap on the + symbol. This will allow you to create a new note.
Then, in the new note type out all the ICE information. This could be anything from contact numbers to a reward for a returned iPhone etc. Once you have finished entering the information tap on ‘Done’ to save the note. Then, view the note you have just saved without the on screen keyboard.
Now, the note you created should be placed as your lock screen image.
To do this, get a screenshot of this note. Press the home button and the lock button at the same time. This will result in a screenshot being saved in the Photos app.
Go into settings>wallpapers and select a photo from your photos app. Save this photo as your lock screen wallpaper.
Once you are done, check out the lock screen. This will show all the information you had typed in the note.

This is one of the methods by which you can have useful information on your iPhone’s lock screen. You can obviously use a photo editing application and make a much more personalized lock screen on your computer and then copy it to your iPhone to save it as the lock screen wallpaper. Regardless of how you do it, what counts is that you have useful ICE info present where everyone can see it in times of emergency.
