iPhone Jailbreaking: How to jailbreak your iPhone with Greenpoison on Mac.

Greenposion was released by the Chronic Dev Team around a month back and this will allow you to jailbreak your iPhone 4 or 3GS running iOS version 4.2.1. Note that if you had unlocked your iPhone using Ultrasnow then if you update to 4.2.1 you will lose your unlock. But I am sure that most of us haven’t done that and this article is mainly aimed for those of you who are new to jailbreaking. Follow the steps mentioned below and enjoy jailbreaking.

Step 1: To start off your jailbreaking adventure, you need to first go to the greenpoison website (http://www.greenpois0n.com) and download the file for Mac OS X. Step 2: Once you download the file (it should read greenpois0n-osx_rc5_b3 or rc6) copy it on your desktop and extract its contents. Step 3: Open the folder after extracting and then open the program by clicking on the greenpoison icon. Step 4: Take your iPhone, switch it off and connect it to your Mac using the cable and then click on the Jailbreak button on the greenpoison application. Step 5: Jailbreaking first involves putting your iPhone into the DFU mode. You will be provided with instructions to do so by the greenpoison application. The first instruction is to hold the sleep button for 3 seconds. Step 6: After the 3 seconds, continue holding the sleep button and press/hold the home button for 10 seconds (remember: use both hands to handle your iPhone to prevent any accidents). Step 7: The next step involves releasing the sleep button while still holding on to the Home button for dear life (just kidding!). This should be done for the next 15 seconds. Remember that the greenposion program will automatically change instructions if you are doing the process correctly. Step 8: At the end of the 15 seconds your iPhone will be put into DFU mode and the jailbreaking process will then commence (keep holding the home button though). Step 9: You will see a white/blue process going on and once it completes you can leave the home button and quit the greenposion application. Step 10: Your iPhone will automatically reboot. Once it reboots, you will notice a new loader app on the Home Screen. Step 11: The final step is to launch the loader app, select on Cydia and install it. That’s it. Cydia will get installed. You can remove the loader app as it is no longer required. Reboot your iPhone and then enjoy the wonderful world of jailbreaking.
