How to Jailbreak iPhone 4.3.1 using Pwnage Tool

The steps mentioned below will allow you to jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 using Pwnage Tool while preserving your baseband. These steps are for the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and also the iPod Touch 4G and 3G users. The steps are as follows: 1) First of all, download Pwnage Tool for the iPhone. You also need to download the iOS firmware for your device. Save both the files on your desktop. 2) Next, you need to launch Pwnage Tool. When the warning comes up simply click OK. 3) You will be presented with the option of choosing your device. Select your device and then click on the blue arrow.

4) Then you need to select Expert Mode. The application will give you the option to use your iOS firmware or else browse for it. Most of the times if you have downloaded the firmware as mentioned in Step 1 on your desktop then Pwnage Tool will be able to find it automatically. Select your firmware and then click on the blue arrow. 5) Next, select General and then continue by clicking on the blue arrow. 6) In the next step you need to unselect ‘Activate the phone’ (if you are on an official carrier) and then move the root partition to around 1000MB. Then, click on the blue arrow. 7) The next step takes you to the Cydia Settings. This allows you to install Cydia packages so that they will be pre-installed once you have jailbroken. Let us skip this step for the sake of this tutorial. 8) Next, you will be taken to the Custom Packages Settings. Here, you need to make sure that Cydia Installer is selected. 9) After this you need to select Build and then continue. 10) In the next step you need to select a location for saving your custom iPSW. It is recommended to save it on your desktop. After this, Pwnage Tool will start building your custom firmware. This may take a few minutes. 11) After this process completes, Pwnage Tool will ask you to connect your iDevice. Do this so that the iPhone enters the DFU mode.

12) The instructions will tell you how to enter DFU mode. Follow the instructions accurately to make sure your iPhone enters the DFU mode. Once you have successfully entered the DFU mode then Pwnage Tool will let you know through an on-screen message. If you haven’t received this message then try again carefully. 13) The next step is simple. You need to launch iTunes. Once you open iTunes it will say that your iPhone is connected in recovery mode. Click OK. 14) Remain in iTunes. Next, hold the Option/Alt Key on your Mac as you click on the Restore button. iTunes will ask you to save a specific firmware. Choose the iSPW file you saved on your desktop in step 10. 15) After a few minutes your iPhone on iOS 4.3.1 will be broken. Enjoy!
