Aside from making calls, taking pictures has got to be one of the most popular function on your iPhone. With Apple's continual improvement of their own lens over the year, it's clear that despite all of the tech bogging us down, there is an added influence of the visual aspect of things in modern society. That notion alone is part of what can make the photo app market so competitive in the app store, but there are still a few solid programs that really shine amongst the bevy of options that are available. Of that select bunch, MacPhun's FX Photo Studio is a cheap, simple, and effective way to get the most out of your photos.

In some senses however, the app itself really almost needs no introduction. Being rated as a top image app in over fifty countries seems to have done that enough. However, after spending a little bit of personal time with Photo Studio on my iPod Touch I can tell you there is definitely a reason that people choose this one over some similar choices. The very first thing that you'll notice when you open this app up, is that there are a lot of options to choose from. You'll be given the option to take new photos or important them from another location, under the guise of an extremely intuitive and light-hearted GUI that both the pros and novices will probably learn to appreciate.
Thankfully, that deep yet, fluid experience also translates over to the actual meat of the experience as well. Once past the intro menu there will be a ton of things you can do, but the centerpiece is really all about the different filters you have to give your pics a bit more of an individualistic shine. With over 160 different options to choose from between filters, scratches, and blurs, there really is something for everyone here. It may take a while to get through all of your options, but you'll be rewarded. Once you select the filter option you'll then begin the choice of applying that effect to the entire image through various sliders, or instead using touch gestures to apply the distortion to whatever segment you desire. The latter can get a little bit tricky, but it's a unique way to get a lot out of the program through a method that anyone should be able to grasp pretty quickly. There are of course the options to add some text brackets and do some basic cropping for good measure too!
Still, what's all this work tricking out your photos worth if you cant show it off? That's why Photo Studio also allows you to send it to your favorite social network right within the app. Not to worry, all of your favorite networks will be fully accounted for, so whether you have followers on Twitter or friends on Facebook, Flickr, and Instagram, you're going to be able to let this thing go viral should you want to. That being said, it's hard not to like almost everything about this app. My only hope is that MacPhun continues to support it with future updates for the iPhone 5 and fifth generation iPod Touch as well. At a limited time price of just one dollar, this app should be hard to ignore!
