If you're a fan of Facebook Messenger, odds are you have probably noticed that this companion application feels at least a little bit flimsy in comparison to the standalone Facebook app. However, with the release of iOS 6 and the iPhone 5, there is definitely a chance for this program to have a fresh start. Thanks to the extra room provided by the new iPhone's larger screen, tis updated utility now has a whole new GUI, combined with faster speeds, and some new touch-related gestures.

When you open up version 2.0, obviously the very first thing that you are probably going to take notice of would have to be the more vertical oriented look of the program itself. Instead of loading the bottom of the screen with several different menu options, you'll now notice that you list of available buddies now covers a much larger portion of the display. That being said, with the added real-estate given to us from the iPhone 5's 4-inch screen, you're going to get to see more of what you love in a way that is going to put a lot less strain on your eyes.
However, the Facebook team has done a lot more than just making this app look great. They are also taking some steps to make it easier to use as well. Once booted, each user is encouraged to make a list of the friends that they chat with the most. By doing so, you'll be able to take away all of that unnecessary clutter involved with trying to get in touch with your buddies by wading through your several hundred online connections. Still if you would rather that more complete option, they aren't going to leave you hanging either. By adding a new swipe gesture, you'll be able to switch between view modes almost instantly without much stress at all.
Lastly of course just like the standalone app, this one has also been redesigned from the ground up to best support iOS. That means all of those speed improvements we saw a short time ago in the regular Facebook app will also be found here as well. All in all, getting in touch with your friends has never looked this easy or this good.
