Apple VP Confirms White iPhone This Spring

The white iPhone 4 is like one of those monsters in a horror movie that refuses to die. Just when you think you’ve finally killed it, the thing rises up to come after you again. After months of false starts, delays, rumors and total silence from Apple, we have the strongest evidence yet that there will be a white iPhone 4—and soon. Today, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide product Philip Schiller received a query about how to get a white iPhone. Schiller replied: “The white iPhone will be available this spring (and it is a beauty!).” OK, we believe you, since you work for Apple and all. But what do you mean exactly by “spring?” Won’t it be officially spring in about a week? After that, spring hangs around until summer, which officially kicks off in June. Isn’t that when the iPhone 5 is supposed to ship? So can we look forward to a white iPhone 4 in April/May or a white iPhone 5 in early June? The latter makes more sense, but maybe there’s enough of a market for a white iPhone 4 to justify the expense of putting one out, even though it will become “last year’s model” the minute the iPhone 5 is officially announced by Apple. coming true.

A few months ago, Apple shipped signage to its retail stores proclaiming the coming of the white iPhone 4 in spring 2011. Since then, we’ve heard nothing from Apple, but tons of rumors indicating the company was working on a white version of the iPhone 4 and had licked the paint problem that held back its release in the first place. This is the first time this year we’ve seen anything on the white iPhone from an Apple exec, so maybe the legend of the elusive unicorn is finally
