`Miracle Paint` Makes White iPhone Possible

Several signs point to the mythical white iPhone 4 finally making its appearance in late February, which raises the question: Why is this happening now instead of last summer? While Apple has yet to officially acknowledge the problem, rumors claim that the paint for the white iPhones was allowing light to leak through the painted areas. These leaks could lead to ruined photos, especially when the internal flash was used. Now there are reports that a small Japanese company has solved the problem by developing a process that controls the application of the paint used on the iPhone 4, and produces results with uniform thickness of coverage. The result of this “miracle painting material” is a white iPhone 4 that meets Apple’s standards and is acceptable for sale.

Details on this “miracle paint” aren’t available right now, but you do have to wonder why this mysterious process took so long to develop—and how much Apple had to pay for it. But I suppose it will be worth it when those shiny white iPhone 4s begin hitting store shelves and going home with happy customers who’ve been waiting not-so-patiently since last summer.
