Best Buy Reserves Shelf Space for the White iPhone

I’ve always figured chains like Best Buy are very careful how they allot their shelf space, because they want the most bang for the buck, so it seems doubtful that they would save a chunk of prime space for a product that doesn’t exist, or isn’t coming out anytime soon. This photo from Engadget was shot over the weekend at a Best Buy store in Houston and shows a shelf tag reserving a spot for the while iPhone 4 at the off contract price of $599.99. Canadian electronics store The Source also has shelf tags for the white iPhone. This would fit in with previous reports that the white iPhone will be coming to AT&T on February 27.

Apple has so far made no official comment about whether there will be a white iPhone at all, but there was signage sent to Apple retail stores indicating the coveted handset would come in spring 2010. While February isn’t quite spring, it’s close enough. Especially since the white iPhone 4 was scheduled to come out last summer at the same time as the black model, but has been delayed several times due to defective paint. Reports claim the paint problem has been solved, which is likely why we’re finally going to see the iPhone 4. The still-unanswered question is whether Verizon will also get the white model, and when.
