Lose your iPhone? Now you don't need to worry... Using MobileMe and the new Find my iPhone feature, you can locate your iPhone simply and quickly. We tested the system pre-release, and here is what we found.

1. Go to the location and get your iPhone (probably not recommended if it's been stolen!)
2. Send a pop up message to your iPhone and hope someone responds to it.
3. Remote Wipe the entire phone, saving you data and photos etc.

MobileMe will tell you if the iPhone is on or off, if it's off, then you'll never find it until it's turned back on again.
Sending a message to the iPhone is really clever, it starts beeping non stop, and displays the message over the top of the screen. In this area you can put a 'please return my phone' sort of message. If anyone ever would do that I'm not sure, but here's to hoping the world is full of good kind hearted people.

Once the iPhone confirms the message has been VIEWED, Apple will send you an email confirming that the phone is actually in someones hands, maybe they will respond and return the phone if it was genuinely 'found' by someone. (and not stolen)
Failing that, you may feel it's safer to simply wipe the phone clean and cut your loses, you can do this with the Remote Wipe facility.
For those who don't have MobileMe on their iPhone, this is the biggest selling point now, you can't put a price on peace of mind, but you can get very close with Find my iPhone.
