Rowmote - Image 1For less than a dollar on the App Store, this is well worth it - probably the best invention next to slice bread too, in fact (though sliced bread can cost more these days).

Yeah, I bet you're used to controlling your Mac via the remote control - whether you're doing Keynote presentations or just switching tracks on iTunes. But why would you need to lug around one extra device if you can already do it on your iPhone or iPod Touch?

Enter Rowmote.

This app turns your handheld device into a stand-in for your Mac's remote controller. What's more is that Rowmote connects to your Mac via Wi-Fi network, and not via line-of-sight IR. More on what this baby can do (from the Rowmote website):

By tapping the Apps button, you get bonus abilities, switching between most controlled programs and toggling the iTunes Visualizer.

Rowmote controls Front Row, Airfoil Video, Boxee, iPhoto, iTunes, Quicktime, DVD Player, Keynote ’08 and ‘09, PandoraJam, Plex, Powerpoint 2008, Skim, Spotify, and VLC. Rowmote 1.3+ also has preliminary eyeTV support (channel changing and volume control). Rowmote can even sleep and wake your computer!

Rowmote requires a Mac OS X 10.4.0 or above.
