Maybe you want to segregate games and video to your iPad and keep other media separated on your iPhone or iPod Touch.  There are limitless possibilities for how you want to keep the media on your different iOS devices divided.  Here are the steps you should take:
  • First you want to connect your iPad or other device to iTunes using the USB cable.
  • After you are connected to iTunes you will see this listed under Devices in the left side window of iTunes.  Click it.
  • Now just navigate through the various tabs at the top of iTunes and choose the movies, music, podcasts, apps that you want to sync.  You can always glance down at the color coded gauge at the bottom of iTunes to see how much space you still have available.
  • You can choose none, all/automatic or pick and choose exactly what you want.
  • Click Sync and you are done.
  • Now you can just repeat with any of your other devices.

The cool thing is that iTunes will keep track of your individual settings for each of your devices so you don't have to worry about doing this repeatedly. Each time you perform a sync the devices will be updated with the content that you have previously identified for that particular device. Of course you can always go back and make any changes that you wish and those will also be stored in iTunes for future syncs.

I was hoping to find more info here about managing and syncing iPads using deployment devices like a cart, cabinet, or USB hub. I did find a lot of info over at www.ipadcart.info in case anybody is interested in going that route.
