I am sure that most of us use our iPad’s a lot for internet browsing mainly because of the fact that the iPad is really user-friendly, comfortable and easy to use for this purpose. The browser experience through the inbuilt internet browser Safari is itself amazing and the tips and tricks we will suggest in this 3 part series will definitely help improve it further. Of course, there are some of us who are already accustomed to the Safari’s browser experience through using it on the iPad or iPod touch but there are others who still haven’t fully explored the true potential of this browser. To find out please read on.
  • Using the Zoom functionality correctly:
If you double tap on the screen you will be able to zoom into the web page. Also, you also have pinch to zoom which allows you to zoom in and out of a particular web page by pinching you fingers. However, in some occasions due to the iPad having a large screen you may find that accidently touching the screen with two fingers results in unnecessary zooming. This can easily be avoided my changing the settings and setting a three finger zoom. Do this by: 1. Go to the Settings app on the Home screen 2. Tap on General 3. Go to accessibility 4. Switch on the Zoom option After you go back to the browser you will notice that you can only zoom in by double tapping using three fingers and dragging them up. Also after zooming in you will only be able to scroll up using three fingers. To zoom out, double tap using three fingers and drag them down. You will no longer be able to zoom using one or two fingers and thus avoiding accidental touches.
  • Learn how to reach the top.
I am sure most of us have felt that when you scroll down a long web page by swiping your fingers it may get very irritating if you want to go back up. You have to put all the effort back into going to the top of the web page. However, there is trick if you need to go right up. If you don’t know this you will surely find it very useful. Simply tap on the notifications bar (you know the place the battery, network signal etc are) at the top of the iPad’s screen and in a split second you will be taken back to the top. For more tips to improve your browsing experience on the iPad please look out for Part 2 of this series.
