With the Ouya in many ways leading the charge, Android gaming has really caught a lot of steam these days. As the Google platform pushes its open-source environment, developers have started to express a pretty strong interest in making titles for the platform. Out of this industry shift comes the 7-inch Wikipad specifically designed to play this kind of media in a tablet based device. As of today, we now have a $250 price along with a Spring release window.
In case this is the first time you've heard of it, the Wikipad is in many ways similar to an iPad in overall design except it is more meant for the sole purpose of gaming. This means that around the display, you will also have a full controller that features face buttons and two analog sticks for movement. In terns of the hardware, it's equipped with an NVIDIA Tegra-3 and 2GB of RAM. In a bold move, the company says that the console itself is "optimized for cloud gaming" which means it will pull its content from various sources such as Google Play as well as OnLive and a few other digital markets.

Originally the rumor was that we would see the Wikipad at Gamestop by Halloween 2012, but changes to the crucial controller have forced the manufacturers to push the release back to Spring of this year. As of right now, as mentioned the device is planned to set you back $250, with a bigger ten inch version coming later on. Is the Wikipad or Android gaming an industry trend tat you'll be buying in to?

I do hope this is not how it will look.
Tablet "gaming" is a neat idea, but all the games are designed to be shallow so you can dive in anytime and get through it in short bursts.
Not for me.
