Voayger Brings the Wool to iOS |

Coming from one-man independent outfit Oh My! Me Studios, on the surface Voyager seems like your typical gimmicky avoidance game. However, this title is truly something that adds something different to the formula. Instead of utilizing modern sprite creation techniques that are used to display smooth and vibrate HD images on iOS device, this developer would rather take inspiration from other sources like the animal kingdom. If you’re still looking to get your fix on wool during these hot summer days, Avoidance is worth looking forward to. For once, this is a game completely designed and dedicated to the sheepish soul in all of us.

It is true that avoidance games on Apple devices are certainly nothing new, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t been loved. After all, when you first purchased any gadget running iOS one of the first games your headed for was probably one of the many iteration of the Helicopter Game. That being said, Voyager does little to mess with these tried and true mechanics. Your goal as the pilot of a rather cute looking spacecraft is to collect various items while avoiding others. Essentially it is your job as the pilot to make sure that this craft arrives at its destination in completely pristine condition.
However beyond the predictable gameplay, there is something else to be discovered here. Through the use of stop motion capturing techniques and some needle point wool, this is a game that truly looks like no other. The wool makes the experience look like something akin to a story book while the way the motion is captured has a way of rendering things to appear strangely realistic. It sounds weird now, but it’s something that must be fully seen to be understood. While avoidance may seem like a dead genre, Voyager stands to prove you can teach an old dog new tricks.
