Believe it or not, it's been ten years since gamers caught their first glimpse of the expansive world known as Vice City. To celebrate this milestone as a company, Rockstar games has decided to bring the highly rated GTA title to a few more mainstream portable devices. While you may have already known about these adaptions coming over to iOS and Android, you'll be glad to know that you'll be able to get your hands on them soon. A release is coming early next month!

In case you've been totally ignorant of the wildly popular GTA series, Vice City was in many ways the second installment to the free-roaming franchise. Sure we may have seen adaptations on earlier consoles like the PSOne, but as far as maturity goes, this was game number two in the more modern console era. Unlike the more recently set GTA III however, Vice City takes gamers back into the midst of the eighties where street crime doesn't necessarily seem to have calmed down much. In true gangster fashion, you'll be stealing cars and attracting attention from the cops with the best of them. What's more is you'll be doing this all behind a memorable soundtrack full of synthesizers. Not to mention you just might even have a run in with the music icon Phil Collins! No joke.

So what if you've already played the original game on PS2 or Xbox? You'll be glad to know that there are some small but significant improvements made especially for this version. As my source cites, iOS and Android users will be privy to "updated character models and lighting effects, 'more precise' gun firing and targeting options, a customizable control layout, and support for Retina display devices." Not too shabby am I right? In terms of Apple devices you'll be able to play it on iPad, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, and iPhone 5, as well as fourth and fifth generation iPod touch. As usual the Android list is quite long, but hallmark names include the Samsung Galaxy S3, Google Nexus 4, Motorola Razr, HTC Rezound, and many more. Tablets like the Google Nexus 10, Motorola Xoom, Toshiba Thrive, and Acer Iconia are also well suited for this game.

Looking to step into Vice City again? You can pick it up for just $5 On December 6th from your favorite app store.
