iPad News: Songwriters Go Mobile with ASCAP

Songwriters who belong to ASCAP (the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) can get 24-hour access to their catalog and royalty information via this new app for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. Members can browse music news as well as search ASCAP’s 8.5 million copyrighted songs. Songwriters can get their royalty statements immediately in PDF format suitable for printing. The app also lets film and television music writers and publishers to view and manage cue sheet data right on the iPad screen. This is obviously a great tool for touring performers who need to manage their publishing catalogs wherever their careers may take them. ASCAP is the first performing rights organization to launch an app like this, so hopefully the others will follow suit. The app is free at the Apps Store, but only ASCAP members may access information.
