iPad News: Skyfire for iPad Hits App Store

The iTunes App Store has just gone into hibernation for the holidays, meaning no new apps until December 29. But one long-awaited app has made it into the App Store just in time—SkyFire for the iPad. This hugely popular app scored a million dollars in sales only a week after the iPhone version became available in early November. The iPad app comes with a sackful of goodies, most notably the ability to play millions of Flash videos and a tasty menu of social networking features. The Skybar toolbar lets users access their video content with one click, while Quickview gives an instant view of your Facebook wall and Twitter feed. SkyFire’s universal Like lets you “like” any page on the Internet with one click. Also included are standard browser elements like tabs, search, sharing, bookmarks and history.

If you’re checking out sites you don’t want others (like the wife or the ‘rents) to find out about, use the Private Browsing option, which leaves no history or cookies behind. This should come in especially handy if you’re going to be watching porn on that new iPad Santa left under the tree. Download for $4.99 at the App Store.
