Obtaining an autograph from President Barack Obama can be challenging, but Sylvester Cann was determined to succeed. Despite the fact he was warned “the President doesn’t sign autographs along the ropeline because pens can be used as a weapon,” Cann found an ingenious solution—he took his iPad to a rally in Seattle, and on it the words “Mr. President, sign my iPad” were written using the Adobe Ideas app. When Cann got close enough to the President, he held up the iPad. Cann told Wired.com, “Secret service was leery about the idea, but they warmed up to the idea and the President thought it was cool. He looked slightly surprised, but proceeded to use his finger to scribble on the iPad.” Clever idea, and it makes for one heckuva souvenir, but I have this horrible vision of dozens of tablet owners at future Presidential events, jockeying for position to get their own iPad scrawl.
