iPad News: Is Esquire's Sexiest Woman Too Sexy for Apple?

It’s not exactly hot news that actress Minka Kelly is Esquire’s “Sexiest Woman Alive” for 2010, since the November issue hit the stands about a month ago. So why haven’t iPad users been able to admire Esquire’s shots of the scantily-clad Minka until this week? According to Mashable, the issue was ruled “too risqué” and not approved for inclusion in the iTunes store after being submitted several weeks ago. Apple’s stand on porn—even the soft-core kind—is well known, and even venerable skin mag Playboy has been prohibited from including its legendary Playmate-of-the-Month nude layouts in its iPad app.

The November issue of Esquire finally made it into the App Store a couple of days ago, after the publication submitted a revised copy of the app, presumably with some of the racier content removed. It seems rather strange that a respected publication with legitimate editorial content gets banned due to a few shots of an actress in lingerie, while the app for Victoria’s Secret lingerie, showing models wearing little bits of nothing which can be purchased online, gets approved. The long-awaited November issue of Esquire is finally available for $4.99 at the App Store.
