iPad News: iPad App Store Adds Search Filters

Ever since the iPad came out, looking for apps hasn’t always been easy. As the number of apps grew, things just got more difficult. Now Apple has taken a step in the right direction by rolling out a handy new feature: search filters. When you start the search for an app, five filters pop up under the top bar — category, release date, customer rating, price and device. This makes complex searches much easier and saves users a lot of time. Filters can be adjusted from the popover, or you can choose to clear all filters.

Unfortunately, the search filters only work when you search through the iPad and aren’t available yet on the desktop version of iTunes. The search function hasn’t made it to iPhone or iPod Touch apps yet, either. Given that searching for an iPad app up to now has often been a pain in the you-know-what, where you get “no results” even when you know darn well the app is in there someplace, this upgrade is very welcome.
